Where are you from?: South LA. I was rescued from Bullies and Buddies

Hi I’m Disco. I was rescued by my parents when I was only 3 months old. I’m almost 2 now and I’ve spent the majority of my life at The Aloha Bungalow. I worked my way up to Store Manager through hard work, lots of licks, and plenty of sleep. Some call me “the Prince of the Riviera Village.” I hope to see you at the bungalow.

What is/are your passion(s)?: Playing and sleeping.

When you're not at The Aloha Bungalow, where would we find you?: Running around the local dog park or beach, or sticking my head out of a car window.

If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Whatever you humans are eating.

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?: King Harbor Tasting Room where I can get all the treats and see all my friends.

If you could have one super power what would it be?: Communicate with humans.

If you could be any animal what would you be and why? A dog because my life rules.

What's your favorite TV show/movie?: The Secret Life of Pets.

Emily Poage

Where are you from?: Lomita, CA

I am the owner of The Aloha Bungalow. I have a cute pup and an equally as cute husband that I enjoy spending all my time with.  I have a B.S. in Apparel Design and Merchandising from San Francisco State and worked in the apparel industry for five years before starting The Aloha Bungalow.

What is/are your passion(s)?: I love being creative. Whether it’s arranging flowers, merchandising and decorating a space, styling clothes for someone, or planning any event.

When you're not at The Aloha Bungalow, where would we find you?: Either romping around town with my pup Disco, at the beach or relaxing at a restaurant drinking wine.

If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Give me all the cheese.

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?: Kauai or Byron Bay in Australia.

What do you hope to have accomplished in 25 years?: My hope is to have 1-2 kids, a second home in Kauai, and just to live a simple happy life. I think it would be cool to eventually travel and write a book about Bed and Breakfasts around the world, or even start a Bed and Breakfast of my own.

If you could have one super power what would it be?: To be invisible.

What's your favorite book or series?: Currently obsessing over all of Atticus’s short poem books.

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?: My favorite animal is a hippo, but I would probably want to be an otter. They’re cute, playful, and like spending their time either in the water or sunbathing.

What's your favorite TV show/movie?: Midnight in Paris

Brian Poage

Where are you from?: Redondo Beach, CA

I am the proud husband of The Aloha Bungalow's founder, Emily Poage. I currently live in Carlsbad, CA and love splitting my time between Redondo Beach and North County San Diego.

What is/are your passion(s)?: My passion is serving others and finding new ways to make a positive impact on the world.

When you're not at The Aloha Bungalow, where would we find you?: Somewhere chasing waves. Surfing is one of my ultimate obsessions. 

If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Sushi

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?: Kauai or the North Shore of Oahu.

What do you hope to have accomplished in 25 years?: I hope to expand The Aloha Bungalow brand to another location in Southern California and a location in Hawaii. This would allow Emily and I to live our dream of living in both California and Hawaii. I also hope to have a loving family with children of our own and live a simple life near the ocean and dedicated to empowering people and protecting our precious environment. 

If you could have one super power what would it be?: I would love to breath under water.

What's your favorite book or series?: The Tao of Health, Sex and Longevity

If you could be any animal what would you be and why? I'd be a dolphin because I love the ocean and they are highly intelligent creatures.

Where are you from?: Hacienda Heights, CA

I love cooking and baking. A few years ago, I was given a kitchen aid mixer for my birthday. Ever since, I’ve been unstoppable in the kitchen. My favorite thing to make is cupcakes.

What is/are your passion(s)?: I love traveling, the ocean, being in nature, and good food!

When you're not at The Aloha Bungalow, where would we find you?: Traveling! I love visiting new places and experiencing different cultures as often as I can.

If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Tacos. No question.

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?: Hawaii, it’s my favorite place.  

What do you hope to have accomplished in 25 years?: I hope to continue being happy.

Who's your favorite band/musician?: Taylor Swift.

What's your favorite book or series?: I don’t know if I have a favorite book, but I do really enjoy reading about nature.

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?: An alpaca. They just seem so chill.

Vickie Sansom

Where are you from?: Lomita, CA

I am the mother of Emily, the founder of The Aloha Bungalow and the grandmother of Disco, the Prince of the Riviera Village! I have worked in the Riviera Village for 30 years. I grew up in Redondo Beach and hung out in the Riviera Village when the bungalow was an information booth.

What is/are your passion(s)?: My family and friends.

When you're not at The Aloha Bungalow, where would we find you?: Enjoying happy hour with friends!

If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Seafood

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?: I would like to see the states I have not had a chance to see right here in the United States.  

What do you hope to have accomplished in 25 years?: Just to have been the best person that I can be.

If you could have one super power what would it be?: Either invisibility or speed.

What's your favorite book or series?: To Kill a Mockingbird, Harry Potter or Pillars of the Earth. 

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?: A dolphin because they are brilliant and fun loving.

Lauren Neale

Where are you from?: Seattle, WA

Hi, I'm Lauren! I recently moved here to Redondo Beach and have fallen in love with my new home. I have always been told I am a California girl and a beach bum at heart. I consider myself an old soul and creative spirit!

What is/are your passion(s)?: Photography, music, interior design, merchandising/styling and volleyball.

When you're not at The Aloha Bungalow, where would we find you?: You can find me at the beach soaking up the sun, eating an açaí bowl and playing volleyball. You can also find me driving down the coast discovering new places, restaurants and bars. I can also be found at Disneyland, music festivals and concerts, or with my boyfriend working on our new fixer upper of a boat!

If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Italian.

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?: On a beach in Hawaii or the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

What do you hope to have accomplished in 25 years?: I hope to be happily married with two kids and own a house and clothing store here in Redondo Beach.

Who's your favorite band/ musician?: The Beatles/ Bob Marley

If you could have one super power what would it be?: Be able to transport anywhere in the world instantly and/ or flying.

What's your favorite book or series?: Harry Potter. 

If you could be any animal what would you be and why?: A French Bulldog because I love English Bulldogs but I would want to be a little less wrinkly.

What's your favorite movie?: Star Wars and Dirty Dancing.

Shannon Rooney

Where are you from?: Lomita, CA

I started working at the Bungalow when I was in high school, when it was still called Soil. I went away to college and passed the job onto my friend Maria who ended up buying the business. The business was then bought by Emily (my best friend). It has been great to keep the “family business” going.

What is/are your passion(s)?:  Animals, cooking, fashion, reading, and photography.

When you're not at The Aloha Bungalow, where would we find you?: Probably reading a book for school or hanging out with my family and friends at a winery.

If you could eat one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?: Mashed potatoes. I’m Irish so enough said.

If you could go anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go?: I have so many places on my bucket list, but Bali is probably my number one. I would also go to a farm anywhere on the west coast of Ireland.

What do you hope to have accomplished in 25 years?: In 25 years I hope to have made a great impact in the world of Education, perhaps by finally finishing my book. I also hope by then to have a loving family.

What's your favorite book or series?: The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway or Frankenstein by Mary Shelley and any poem written by John Keats.

If you could be any animal what would you be and why? A cat, so I can take as many cat naps as I want.

What's your favorite TV show/movie?: Remember the Titans and the Fast and Furious franchise (so random, I know).
